An Accelerated Cancer Treatment

On the second day after finishing my move from Texas back to Thousand Oaks, where I belonged, I had a same day appointment with Dr. Portnoy, which is unheard of in normal patient-doctor dealings in Southern California. I had a swelling on the right side of my neck that had come about on the last few weeks of my move and had become an urgent issue to my delayed thinking. Dr. Portnoy looked at my condition and immediately managed an appointment for me with Dr. Fettman at West Coast ENT at 1:00 in the afternoon of that same day. Another same day appointment unheard of in SoCal. Dr. Fettman diagnosed the issue as tongue cancer within about 10 minutes and arranged a meeting with a radiation Oncologist late afternoon that same day. I’m sure Dr. Portnoy was involved in that miracle, also. Dr. Portnoy’s concern about my condition and immediate action managed to save me an immense amount of grief with a condition that was way too delayed because of the move I had been stuck in. I was very thankful I had been accepted as one of Dr. Portnoy’s patients again. I had him as my PPO back in the late ‘90’s and early 2000 before I moved away. I will be staying with Dr. Portnoy as long as I’m drawing air.
