Above and Beyond
Dr. Thompson impressed me before he joined the MDVIP team. That is why I'm still with him today. I have a couple of stories.
For years, I had resisted getting a PSA test, but Dr. Thompson finally convinced me to have the test done. He received the lab results, which he must have been reviewing report in the evening because he called me at home that same evening. Rather than wait to the next day, he called me 9 o'clock at night! The PSA reading was 16 ng/ml. He didn't want me to wait to see a urologist; he wanted me to make arrangements to see one first thing in the morning, which I did. Turned out to simply be an enlarged prostrate. But the calm but convincing notice late that night was impressive.
A second story involves my daughter and her first day on campus at Michigan State Un. in Lansing. After dropping her off., she became very sick, which we eventually found out was salmonella poisoning. I was at home when I heard from her. Although it was late in the afternoon when I spoke with him, Dr. Thompson suggested I drive up to Lansing, get my daughter, and bring her to his office. He would stay late to examine her.
That's professionalism and caring at the highest order.
