I describe Dr. Paul Feldan as a Medical Professional that’s so much more than a Primary Care Physician. I’ve known Dr. Feldan for over 25 years and took only a brief hiatus away from his practice, as I was originally not embracing the concept of MDVIP. The quarterly cost, on top of paying for private insurance and copays, just didn’t make financial sense at that time in my life. However it took me only a short time after leaving his practice…before I realized I could not get the individualized care, clinical expertise and genuine compassion from other physicians at our area’s larger practices. Limited to a 15 minute visit, and typically not seen by your specific doctor in a reasonable amount of time, became inconvenient and impersonal. How does a doctor adequately treat someone by flipping through prior notes and tests without some form of continuity? So I found my way back to Dr Feldan, with the ease of calling, emailing and even texting with him when I have a concern. It’s comparable to having a family member that you know is close by when you are feeling vulnerable. And if he’s on vacation, his colleague will also take the time to give you his best advice. For many people, I understand this is a luxury because it is not inexpensive. But when I reflect back each quarter, I soon enough realize how often I’ve used this service to the fullest. It may be later in the evening, or over the weekend, when undoubtedly something strange happens in the body and you just need validation that you are ok…or perhaps not. Either way, you know the appropriate action to take because your doctor knows you…knows your history…and even knows your idiosyncrasies. What a blessing not to visit the Emergency Room at a hospital! Having a Primary Care Physician, specializing in Internal Care and Geriatrics, is one of the greatest comforts you can have in life…especially as we age or live alone. I am very grateful that Dr. Feldan and his MDVIP practice is available to me. Many thanks to Dr. Feldan for providing peace of mind!

Meet Paul Feldan, MD

As an internal medicine and geriatric specialist with over 25 years’ experience, I have learned that there is no “one size fits all” in medicine. It is important to me that I can partner with each patient so they can be an active participant in his or her care. My smaller MDVIP-affiliated practice fosters a stronger, more personal patient-doctor relationship in which there is more time to understand what motivates the patient to achieve his or her wellness goals and to help identify and overcome any barriers to achieving those goals.

I believe that it is better to focus on prevention, not just treating disease. In my practice, I am able to devote more time to educate my patients about such things as risk factors, lifestyle changes and preventive medicine. In addition, the diagnostic and wellness tools available with my MDVIP-affiliation are valuable for identifying and addressing any issues that may cause illness.

My approach to health maintenance is a practical one. As the father of three boys, a husband, youth sports coach and physician, I know there is not always time to eat right, exercise and “do as the doctor ordered.” For example, in the case of exercise, finding an enjoyable activity will be motivation to continue it. For me, martial arts and lacrosse keep me active and motivate me to eat properly.

In my general outpatient practice, as a geriatrician, and in nursing home and rehabilitation settings, I handle many complex cases. Having a smaller practice allows me more time to help those with more acute needs or complex problems to navigate the health care system, to coordinate care with specialists - which helps avoid hospitalizations - and to help with the continuity of post-hospital care. Similar to conveniences often associated with concierge medicine practices, I also offer same- or next-day appointments that start on time.

My practice in Mount Laurel, New Jersey serves the surrounding Burlington and Camden county towns of Marlton, Voorhees, Moorestown, Cherry Hill and others. In addition to my office, I see patients in Aspen Hills Healthcare Center, a long term care nursing facility and short term rehabilitation hospital, and Buttonwood Behavioral Healthcare Hospital, a psychiatric facility.

And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.

MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience.
