The man I lived with had died recently. I had retired a year ago. My nerves were edgy. I knew it was irrational to be bothered by a seven-minute wait for Dr. Leder, but in her waiting room, I burst into tears, told her assistant that I just couldn't handle the wait, and left. Twenty minutes later, I arrived home--nine miles from her office--and collapsed in my living room. It never occurred to me to listen to my answering machine messages; this was before I carried a cell phone. I'm not sure how long I was there before the bell rang. People in my community don't ring doorbells with no reason, so I pulled myself up and opened the door. Yes, Dr. Leder was worried about me and, since I'd left her office and not answered my phone, she came to my house to see if I was ok. Add that kind of personal concern to an ability to stay on top of whatever medical problems I have, and to explain the problems, ramifications, and ameliorations more clearly than the specialists...plus an incredible memory, and yes, I'm delighted to have Dr. Leder for my PCP.

For eight months in 2022, my husband was in and out of hospitals and nursing care facilities. What started as a major back operation from which he was not recuperating as expected, ended with a diagnosis of metastatic lung cancer. Towards that latter part of those eight months, during one of my visits to see my husband in our local hospital, I encountered my doctor, Dr. MIchele Leder, in the elevator. I don't know if we hugged right there in the elevator, or when she ushered me to the physician's lounge, but she sat me down, and we talked. I know she was concerned for my emotional state...how I was doing? I really don't know if Dr. Leder knew how truly serious at that point my husband's condition was, and quite honestly I don't know if I fully realized it either. We sat for a while and talked, not that I can recall what was said. That doesn't matter. Dr. Leder's act of kindness that day is what will remain with me always.

Meet Michele H. Leder, MD, FACP

I treat my patients as I would want my own family to be treated. In my practice, medical decisions are made together, and care is always individualized and provided with respect, compassion and in a highly professional manner and welcoming atmosphere.

My internal medicine private practice in Pearl River, New York has a strong focus on preventive care with extensive wellness counseling. In addition to focusing on prevention and wellness, I also manage acute and chronic medical conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and obesity treatment. As a private doctor, I am available to my patients for urgent issues 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. My MDVIP-affiliated practice also offers services, including comprehensive, advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests, that go far beyond those found in concierge medicine practices.

My practice serves Rockland County, including New City, Piermont, Nyack, Montebello and Suffern and is also close to Montvale and Park Ridge in Bergen County, New Jersey. I also care for patients at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center and Nyack Hospital. I am the only female internist in Rockland County offering this comprehensive approach to outpatient and inpatient medical care.

My passion as an experienced primary care physician, with over 25 years in practice, is to get to know my patients extraordinarily well, so we “leave no stone unturned”. All of my patients have the ability to participate in their care, and together, we create a customized action plan to help them effectively attain their goals. I am thrilled to partner with my patients to help them enjoy the best health possible. Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.

MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience.
