I began my practice of internal medicine in 1986, joining my father and brother in private practice, offering comprehensive adult medical care in a truly independent setting in Nashville, Tennessee. My office has always been located in mid-town Nashville, less than 2 miles from Vanderbilt Medical Center (where I went to medical school and completed my residency), Centennial Hospital, the flagship of HCA and Baptist/St. Thomas Midtown, a leading hospital in the Ascension network. Thus, I have enjoyed practicing medicine in middle Tennessee. I then had the opportunity, along with my father and brother, to help found the Heritage Medical Group in 1992. By being affiliated with MDVIP, I am continuing my progression in caring for my patients the way they deserve.
I am dedicated to many aspects of adult primary care. My personal approach is focused on preventive healthcare, with emphasis on risk factor identification and modification, including lifestyle, diet, exercise and genetic factors that can impact health issues in the future. I understand the need to be available to assess acute healthcare needs, but availability is also important when immediate needs arise. Caring for patients with multiple and complicated medical illnesses remains the foundation of internal medicine/adult primary care, and it is my goal to make this even more effective by having time to listen to my patients and help guide them through their health challenges.
I truly value the many relationships I have formed with my patients and their families through the years; it is a privilege to be trusted as one’s personal physician and a pleasure to participate in the care for those interested in staying healthy.
