Meet David Rizzo, DO

I started Rizzo Family Medicine because I wanted to provide patients with “old school” medicine. I came up with our practice slogan “making healthcare great again, one patient at a time” to emphasize my philosophy of practicing medicine where the physician takes time to listen to the patient and the entire staff knows who you are when you call or come into the office.

I have been a board-certified osteopathic physician for over 20 years. Throughout the years, I have cared for thousands of patients in just about every setting and have seen almost everything that can happen. It has been a privilege to do what I do, and a humbling education that only time and experience could achieve. It has transformed me into a skilled clinician and has taught me countless lessons about people, health and our healthcare system.

That experience has taught me that being a good doctor and giving good advice takes time. It takes time to listen and understand what is happening and to explain what should be done and why. Time to listen, evaluate and educate is, sadly, what our health system has sacrificed most. Our system has also been built to focus on disease rather than prevention, and as such, many health issues that people suffer from, that possibly could have been avoided, are not.

By limiting my practice to a smaller panel of patients, I can devote enormous time and energy to being the doctor my patients need me to be, and the doctor they deserve. My partnership with MDVIP has given me the tools and infrastructure I need to be that doctor. The early detection tests MDVIP offers, along with their extensive library of nutritional and wellness information, aligns beautifully with my goal to prevent problems before they happen. It is an exciting collaboration. Similar to conveniences often associated with concierge medicine practices, I also offer same- or next-day appointments that start on time.

I truly believe the healthcare needs of my patients should come above everything else and I invite you to join me in a partnership to better achieve the healthiest version of you possible. Let’s prevent what we can and treat what we need to with compassion, humanity and a common-sense approach aligned with your goals and your priorities.

This way we truly can make healthcare great again, one patient at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.

Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.

MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.

Testimonials from patients of David Rizzo, DO

Sunday visit

from Michael in FL • March 9, 2024
I had an unexpected, and thankfully “mild, “ stroke on a Saturday last year. To my delight and utmost appreciation I received a visit from Dr Rizzo early Sunday morning. I was so grateful for his true concern and thankful for his advice and reassurance. I knew at that moment he would be my doctor for the foreseeable future.

Dr staff and wellness appointment not meeting my needs

from Randi in FL • February 20, 2024
Today I spoke with Denise at dr Rizzo office about refilling my prescription. She was very nasty and not compassionate about dealing with my renewal. I also had a wellness check scheduled a few weeks ago for my wellness check and it was canceled because the machines are not working. This situation has not been resolved. I do not expect this kind of service from

The Best

from Kevin in FL • February 10, 2024
It’s been close to a year since I’ve chose Dr. David Rizzo (Sarasota, FL) to be my primary doctor. I worked in the medical field for 40 years before retiring, so I know a “winner” when I see one. He’s considerate, caring and factors all my ailments into his treatment.

So relieved and happy we found Dr Rizzo

from Margaret in FL • February 10, 2024
Dr Rizzo is always responsive, patient and attentive. He listens, questions and takes the time necessary to really hear and address your issue. When traveling my husband forgot his medications (he has heart disease). A Sunday call to Dr Rizzo resulted in Doc sending my husbands meds to a pharmacy in the location we were headed to. What a relief and lifesaver!
