Congratulations to 2023 MDVIP Ambassadors
After reviewing all the nominees who became official members of the MDVIP Ambassadors Club last year, the committee selected three grand prize ambassadors. We thank all of the deserving practice ambassadors who provided an extraordinary experience for their members. Please join us in a virtual round of applause and standing ovation for:
Sonja Dargan | First Place
Medical Office Coordinator
Office of Erica J. DeWitt, MD
2700 Quarry Lake Drive, Suite 200
Baltimore, MD 87110
Nomination
My staff and I were out sick with COVID the week of 8/28/23 and my other co-worker was on vacation. There was literally no one to assist Dr. Doerman with our patients. Sonja graciously offered to drive to Northern Virginia from Baltimore, Maryland to work the front and back office with a provider she has never met! That is the definition of going above and beyond one's duties! I truly appreciate Sonja stepping in for the days when no one could come to work and this is why I wanted to nominate Sonja Dargan for the Ambassador Club!
Amanda Bowers | Second Place
Registered Nurse
Office of Jillian Halmi, DO
3822 Colonial Ave., Suite 1
Erie, PA 16506
Nomination
Amanda is the backbone of the Erie, MDVIP affiliate practice. She has been the consistent face for members during the succession of Dr. Yakish to Dr. Halmi. Mandie is willing to do whatever it takes for members. One member is a quadriplegic who struggles to leave their home. Mandie is happy to go to their home for blood draws! She'll also meet members in the parking lot (even in the Erie winter blizzards) for draws and injections! Tragically, Dr. Halmi lost her son a few weeks into her MDVIP tenure. Immediately, Mandie took a leadership role to coordinate care, communications and provide a level of calm and stability in the practice, even during tragedy. She's truly an Ambassador!
Kathleen Rains | Third Place
Medical Assistant
Office of Kulnarin Gay Purcell, MD
1325 South Noland Road, Suite C
Independence, MO 64055
Nomination
There aren't enough words to share all the ways in which Kathleen Rains makes a difference in our patients' lives. Today we had a patient who walked over a mile to come to his appointment. He was so worn out that she drove him home. When a patient calls who is struggling at home, she will drive to their home to check on them if they don't answer her phone calls. She is always willing to stay late if there is a patient in need. Kathleen raises chickens and regularly brings free fresh farm eggs for all the staff and patients. She brings joy to all of our patients with her big smile and laugh. We are blessed to have her!
