COVID-19 Vaccine and Immunity Update for Affiliates and Physicians

With at least three promising vaccine candidates advancing through clinical trials, we recently hosted a discussion with immunologist and virologist Dr. Shane Crotty from the La Jolla Institute for Immunology (LJI) Coronavirus Taskforce.

Crotty is among the world’s most influential scientific minds recognized as an expert in vaccine design. In fact, the Crotty Lab was the first to publish research on the immune system’s response to SARS-CoV-2, helping to dispel fears that the virus would elude efforts to create an effective vaccine (Cell, May 2020). Dr. Tony Fauci, NIH, referred to some of Crotty’s work as “exceedingly important to the field of immunogen design.”
