About Steven L. Gerber, MD
My philosophy is to approach each patient as a unique individual with his or her own set of needs medically and emotionally. It is vitally important to know my patients on a personal level, spend time listening to them and partner with them to achieve their health and wellness goals. Despite all the complex technology and testing available to help with diagnosis and treatment, the foundation of care is based in a detailed history obtained from the patient and information from examining the patient. Nothing replaces interacting with a patient face to face.
It is important for my patients to understand their conditions and have their questions answered in a timely and thorough manner. I encourage all of my patients to take a proactive approach to their healthcare. Using a combination of history taking, physical exam, diagnostic workups and open communication, I strive to meet their medical needs. My patients have my cell phone number and I am always available to answer questions. I make house calls as necessary and make social rounds on my patients in the hospital. Practicing in the MDVIP model affords me the necessary time to act as an advocate for each one of my patients.
As an internist with 20+ years’ experience, I have the insight and knowledge necessary to help my patients navigate an increasingly complex medical system. I frequently call specialists to update them on a patient’s condition. I provide primary care, internal medicine and am trained in Nephrology – kidney diseases and hypertension. I also treat patients with diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cholesterol disorders, thyroid disorders and obesity. Having faced my own struggles with weight in the past, I appreciate and support a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise and a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. I am passionate about helping others that struggle with weight issues lead healthier lives.
My practice serves Camden, Burlington and Gloucester counties and I have patients from Cherry Hill, Haddonfield, Collingswood, Moorestown, Marlton and Philadelphia.

Reviews from the web

Dr. Gerber is an experienced diagnostician on his own, but has many contacts with top specialists when we need them.
It has been a blessed relief to know that our medical needs are met so quickly and so well since we joined Dr. Gerber's practice through MD VIP.

Dr Gerber and his staff literally saved my life. In my eighteen months of care from Dr Gerber, he was and is always available literally 24/7.. I'm healing and probably 80% back to normal. THANK YOU Doc G !!

Dr. Gerber sees me in the office and at home.

I have so many medical problems that I say I am a connoisseur of doctors and hospitals.
Dr. Gerber is always available to help me.
He has called me back while he was on a family vacation! He responded to me when I was in Crete!
I know that my health would not be as good as it is now without Dr. Gerber’s attention and medical care.
If there is an area of medicine Dr. Gerber is not an expert in he has wonderful people that he refers me to and is also accepting of other doctor’s input into my complicated and varied medical conditions.
Dr. Gerber has helped me live my best possible life inspite of all of my health problems.
Dr. Gerber is a great doctor and a true example of what everyone in the medical field should aspire to being.

Frequently Asked Questions
Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
