About James Kwak, MD, FAAFP
I have always viewed medicine as a marriage between science and art. I have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from MIT and a medical degree from UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. With my scientific background, I believe in being meticulous in the details of medical theories. With a devout religious upbringing that has taken me on medical mission trips throughout the world, I have a strong sense of compassion, a duty to my patients and a commitment to listen and sympathize. I practice medicine in a way that I believe is aligned with the harmony between science and art.
I love the practice of medicine and more so, I love practicing family medicine, treating not only the individual but also the patient’s family to help fully understand the patient. Helping to prevent disease through wellness is where my true passion lies. I am a procedure-oriented physician who offers primary care and the services included in the MDVIP Wellness Program. I am well versed in primary care and have strong connections with local specialists. As a practitioner and teacher of a martial art called kendo, I am familiar with musculoskeletal injuries and have a special interest in musculoskeletal medicine. I took instruction in sports medicine at Crozer Health where I performed my family medicine residency. I received my board certification from the American Board of Family Medicine, and I am a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. I speak English, Korean and Spanish.

Kwaj's bedside manners are A++. His office staff are very attentive to one's needs, takes comprehensive notes about the patient's phone call & responds back very quickky.

Right before the Christmas holiday I contacted Dr. Kwak on his cell several times after hours regarding a respiratory issue that was progressing. Each time he responded quickly and never made me feel that I was bothering him or that it was an imposition. Twice I’ve been able to schedule a same day appointment when I needed to be seen. I am very happy to be in the care of Dr. Kwak and highly recommend him and his practice.

I have been with the MDVIP program now for over a decade. There is no better healthcare model. Dr. Kwak as a new physician to this model has done a fantastic job in his new practice role. I truly can't say enough about the quality of care, the professionalism and courtesy of the staff, and the attention to detail that they all extend to me as their patient. I would highly recommend anyone to this practice. I look forward to remaining in his care for many years to come.

This turned out to be a blessings in disguise because her new doctor at Virtua in Moorestown is a lot better. She told my mom that one of her medication is best taken in the morning and another is best taken at night. Also she told my mom about a an adult day care center where they have Korean community and it's free for people with Medicare. My mom goes twice a week and she loves it.

I’ve been with Dr immediately after I found him after he opened his own practice after leaving one of those “impersonal multi-Dr” institutionally run practices here in SJ.

Frequently Asked Questions
Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
